There is no doubt in my mind that my wife loves me. I am lucky to have
her in my life!

There is no doubt in my mind that my wife loves me. I am a lucky to have her in my life!

I have no idea how I manage to remove pillow cases while I am sleeping. Finding them the next day is difficult!

Definitely want to head up north tomorrow and get some snow action in!

Kitchen Organization Phase I - Complete

I opted to go with the Rev-A-Shelf (Two-Tier Pull Out Basket) Large
since I could not find a large version of the Two-Tier Cookware
Organizer. Either way I am pretty happy with the outcome. The initial
install of the first one took a little over 35 mins and the second was
assembled and installed in about 15 mins. Since my cabinets are a
little larger then the average cabinet size the racks did not fit
exactly perfect, but I decided to leave most of room on the outer
sides of the racks. So in the left cabinet I pulled the rack more the
right leaving about a good 45 inches of space on the left and vice
versa for the right cabinet. With that 4 inches of space I will use
it for cutting boards, cookie sheets, etc...

Somedays it would be nice to have a sounding board to bounce ideas off of.

Is it healthy to want more? More out of life, career, education. What defines happiness?

Just read that actress Brittany Murphy died @ 32 today!

The holiday season is here! Why do I feel so dang blah?

Arg! Can't sleep, too much going on in my mind and I cannot seem to shut it off. Advice?

Playing wii might be the only appropriate time to ask: do you have your strap on? Pun intended

Back at home making cookies with the family

Man we got a cookie assembly line going on here!

sqlshots: Add Leading Zeros

Typically in most cases you find yourself removing leading zeros but in this case I needed to add leading zeros to a column.

Remove Leading Zeros

SELECT CAST(CAST(ColumnName AS INT) AS VARCHAR(10)) FROM TableName

Let's Pad the field

Since I needed 6 chars this will add 3 spaces to the front of the numbers

SELECT STR(ColumnName, 6) FROM TableName

Add Leading Zeros

Let's say we need to add zeros to an employee id, well this would be an easy way to accomplish it.

SELECT REPLACE(STR(ColumnName, 6), SPACE(1), '0') FROM TableName

SELECT SalesPersonID       ,REPLACE(STR(SalesPersonID, 6), SPACE(1), '0') AS PaddedSalesPID FROM   Sales.SalesPerson

Note: the SPACE(1) is equivalent to ' ' (That is a Tick Space Tick) So two Ticks with a space in between)

Update Table

UPDATE Sales.SalesPerson SET newSalesPID = REPLACE(STR(SalesPersonID, 6), SPACE(1), '0')

Custom URL + Google Apps + Posterous = Easy Custom Blog

Step 1: Get yourself a domain
Preferably a registrar that gives you control of the DNS (e.g Buydomains.com, GoDaddy.com, etc...)

Step 2: Edit the DNS settings of your new domain
You may have to delete all the previous entires which is what I did. At this point you can do everything listed in the illustration with the exception of the area highlighted in blue (Google Apps Identifier) since we haven't gotten their yet. Save your changes!

Step 3: Signup for Google Apps
The standard account allows you to create up to 50 email addresses. So you can get you@yoursite.com. Which is way cool!
Go here: http://bit.ly/6Z3d2h to sign up for a Standard (FREE) account

Setup your custom URL for:
  1. Google Docs
  2. Google Calendar
  3. Google Sites
  4. Google Email
  5. Save your changes!
Just make sure the names you choose match the CNAME entries which you made in step 2!

Step 4: Update the DNS settings
Now go back and add a CNAME entry to your DNS settings using your new Google App Identifier. Remember it is the blue highlighted area back on step 2. Save your changes!

Step 5: Signup for a Posterous account
Go here: http://bit.ly/8NMxrV to signup

Setup Posterous to use your custom URL
  1. Click on Manage
  2. Click on the Settings tab
  3. In the top section you will see (Custom domain name)
  4. Save your changes

Posting Tips

Gallery vs No Gallery
See the difference here: http://bit.ly/6dbTsP
If you add multiple images to your email it will collectively be placed into a very cool (thumb driven) gallery, but if you don't want that simply add ((nogallery)) to your subject line.  Yes that is a double parentheses.

Tags
Tags are commonly used pretty much everywhere nowadays so to tag your posts simply add ((tags: food, family, bbq)) to your subject line.  Again that is a double parentheses.

Happy posting!
